Pedagogical Approach
Our primary goal and mission is to guide young people towards becoming independent individuals, equipped with the ability for critical reflection and a sense of responsibility for their own actions. We strive for a balanced approach between self-fulfilment and social adaptability, enabling them not only to pursue their own aspirations but also to integrate successfully into society.
To achieve this goal, relationship-building is at the heart of our work. We believe that a strong, trusting relationship is key to positively influencing young people and supporting their development. Communication and interaction take place continuously in everyday life, both verbally and non-verbally. Our presence, attitude, and perception of humanity significantly shape the way relationships between us and others evolve. It is therefore essential to continuously reflect on ourselves and the young people, evaluate our interactions, and remain mindful of how we engage with one another. Our core values—safety, respect, reliability, solidarity, authenticity, mindfulness, recognition and appreciation, responsibility, and self-efficacy—serve as guiding principles in the educational process. Through shared activities and experiences, as well as a positive atmosphere and consistent relationship-building opportunities, we aim to provide young people with a secure and supportive environment throughout their stay.
The young people who come to us are initially not yet ready to take full responsibility for their actions or behaviour. Our aim is to gradually and systematically guide them towards this responsibility. Our phased approach allows them to develop into independent and autonomous individuals at their own pace. Developing a sense of responsibility involves, among other things, learning to regulate impulsive needs and tendencies, adhering to meaningful rules, finding compromises with others, and recognising personal duties. The acquisition of rules and values plays a crucial role in this process. As educators, it is our responsibility to lead by example, uphold agreements, and set clear boundaries. This provides young people with the structure and guidance they need to mature into well-rounded and responsible individuals.
We regard various approaches and methods as professional tools within the educational process when working with young people. Our pedagogical approach is guided by their needs, with adults providing direction to help them reach their goals. This requires continuous dialogue with the young people to take their individual needs into account and, where necessary, adjust expectations in line with their development. By fostering a respectful environment and interaction, we enable young people to experience corrective relationship-building. Our role is to maintain a balance between education, discipline, consistency, and the logical extension of their autonomy within the framework of participation.
Our goal is achieved when young people have the necessary tools and self-confidence to find their own path while interacting with others in a respectful and responsible manner.
