Study House
Many children and young people in our care have developed a deep mistrust of school and academic learning. They often have significant gaps in their knowledge and are frequently older than their peers in relation to their current grade level. Their fear of embarrassment in front of a group often leads to strong resistance toward traditional educational institutions.
At our Study House, these young people receive one-on-one instruction and have the opportunity to achieve recognised German school qualifications, such as the special needs school certificate (Förderschulabschluss), lower secondary school certificate (Hauptschulabschluss), extended lower secondary certificate (erweiterter Hauptschulabschluss), or intermediate secondary school certificate (Realschulabschluss).
PROGRESSO collaborates with various mainstream schools in Germany. Lessons follow individual learning plans that consider the student’s special educational needs or the curricula of the German mainstream school system. This comprehensive education, along with the issuance of official school reports, enables young people to seamlessly continue their studies within the regular school system upon returning to their home country.
During the first three months, young people have the opportunity to settle in Portugal while our specialists assess the most suitable form of schooling. The educational approach is tailored to the individual needs and developmental level of each child or young person. During lessons, a school counselor is available to provide motivation, ensure rules are followed, and offer support during breaks and in crisis situations.
The educational programme is an additional service that is not included in the standard care fees and must be applied for separately.
