Transition House
The Transition House offers a mixed-gender shared living space with four places, located in the centre of the small town of Almodôvar. This step from the secluded environment of the initial living groups on the farms to a more vibrant community provides young people with access to all the necessary facilities and amenities within a compact area.
Quiet, historical, and rich in tradition, the town features landmarks, churches, supermarkets, small shops, a cinema, a fitness club, a library, a health centre, a sports centre with a swimming pool, and a riding arena. Surrounded by nature, there are several lakes for swimming and parks with barbecue areas.
As an intermediate step between intensive care on the farms and independent living in their home country or in their own apartment, this setting allows young people to organise their lives independently while still receiving 24-hour support. This offer is part of the youthcare mandate under juvenile law and is aimed at young people aged 14 and older, who have reached a level of maturity that makes the transition to independence and personal development sensible.
Personal responsibility and the ability to reflect are key elements of our educational approach. Therefore, we actively involve young people in shaping their own development process. Our goal is to promote lasting independence and self-reliance. We place great emphasis on on individually preparing them for life after the programme and creating suitable structural conditions for a successful transition.
